It has recently been announced that See Rock City & Other Destinations is a recipient of the 2008 Richard Rodgers Award for musical theatre. The award includes a generous grant toward a new developmental staged reading at a New York theatre company.
"The intent of the Richard Rodgers award is to nurture the careers of talented composers and playwrights, and to have their musicals produced in New York City. Former award recipients include Maury Yeston (Nine), Jonathan Larson (Rent), Julie Taymor and Elliot Goldenthal (Juan Darien), Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Lucky Stiff), Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley (Violet). Since 1980, sixty-four works have been produced. This year's jury included Stephen Sondheim (chair), Lynn Ahrens, John Guare, Sheldon Harnick, Richard Maltby, Jr., and John Weidman."

The BMI Foundation, Inc. presented the 2007 Jerry Bock Award for Excellence in Musical Theatre to lyricist Adam Mathias and composer Brad Alexander August 7 at a luncheon held at the BMI offices. Mathias and Alexander received cash awards as well as commemorative plaques for their musical See Rock City. Jerry Bock, a Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning composer of timeless classics like Fiddler on the Roof and Fiorello, personally selected See Rock City, which was developed in the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop.

Bush), is a collection of short pieces set at tourist destinations across the country. The Musical Mondays concert - directed by Kevin Del Aguila - includes sneak-previews of The Alamo and Coney Island, as well as visits to Rock City and Niagara Falls.

Adam received a BFA from The Theatre School, DePaul University (founded as the Goodman School of Drama in 1925) where he co-founded the still annual Wrights of Spring new playwriting festival and produced his original musicals Another? and Bloomsbury’d (note collegiate obsession with punctuation.) After graduation, Adam was house manager for Chicago Shakespeare’s (founded as Shakespeare Repertory) productions of Hamlet and The Merry Wives of Windsor .
Adam then moved to New York City to obtain a Masters of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre Writing from Tisch School of the Arts, New York University.April 25, 2006
