Home Brewery

Beer

Thanks to a Christmas gift from Grandmama, we purchased the equipment we need to brew beer:

  • 20 Qt. Stainless Steel Brew Kettle
  • 22 Qt. Plastic Bucket with lid
  • 3-Gallon Glass Carboy
  • Fermentation Air Lock and Stopper to fit both fermentors.
  • Siphon Assembly (Racking Tube, Hose, and Hose Clamp).
  • 24 16 oz. Flip-top Beer Bottles
  • Large Funnel
  • Big Wooden Spoon
  • Hydrometer

We got all this stuff at Beverage People in Santa Rosa. Bob helped us pick out all the stuff.

There were 3 eggs today

Farm Journal
The days are getting longer and the chickens are healthier. Today there were three eggs, which is the most we've had in a single day in a few months. We have 5 hens. One died of really bad mites (or fleas). Now we know how to treat those nasty bugs. One of the three eggs today was laid by a hen I had thought was going to die. I'm glad to know she made a full recovery.

We're going to Louise's house for dinner. We love Louise. In addition to being a great friend, she's done so much to help us make our home and property better. She gives us lots of great landscaping ideas. She gave us the lavender plants in front of the house.

Happy New Year!

We had a wonderful evening at home last night. We had a fire in our fire pit in the backyard. Scout ran around enjoying herself. Jessie and Mark stopped by for a couple beers.

Bo and I sat by the fire talking about what we appreciate in our lives and what we look forward to in the coming year. We were sound asleep by 10:30.

It was pouring when we woke up this morning. The horses got their breakfast a little late due to the rain. It was a gray day and mostly we stayed inside. Bo worked on putting weather on this website. I read. Scouty snookle-schnored (slept) on my lap.
