Angel Island
Purple Flower Taken with 180 macro lens. |
Fairie Dust I won 2nd prize in the Angel Island photo contest. I get $50 coupon towards purcahse of a Tamron lens. I think I'll get the 90mm macro lens. The minimum distance on the 90mm lens is 11 inches, whereas the 180mm is 18 inches. The advantage of the 90mm is that it weighs half as much, so I'll be more likely to have it with me.
I don't know what this is a picture of. I took the picture with a 180mm macro lens. Whatever this is, it is about the size of the end of a pensil eraser. I had no idea it was so beautiful (or even that it was there) until I looked through the lens. |
Leaves This is another picture I took with the 180mm lens. I like the colors. |
Gull I took this with a $5,500 300mm lens. It would be the perfect lens for taking pictures of the heron across the street, if it weren't so darned expensive. It weighs over 6 pounds, which would make it a burden to carry any further than across the street. |
Lens and Bridge Here's a more affordable and versitile lens for taking bird pictures. It is a 200-500mm. It costs about $1,500. And at 3 pounds, it weighs half as much as the 300mm. Plus, it really impresses everyone who sees it.
I took the picture with a 11-17mm lens. |
Golden Gate Fence I think I'll enter this one in the contest. Don't tell the Tamron representative, but I'm pretty sure I took this with the lens that came with my camera. |
Bo 1 I used an 18-200mm lens for this series of three shots. This lens, especially made for digital cameras, does not do anything my other lenses don't do. The cool thing is that it basically replaces the three lenses I have. You could leave this lens on the camera 85% of the time. This one, along with the 200-500mm and the 180 macro would satisfy my lens lust. I could imagine that other people would want to supplement this with the 11-17mm. |
Bo 2 This was taken with the same 18-200mm lens from the same spot as Bo 1. Bo 1 was taken at 18mm, while this one was probably taken around 50mm. |
Bo 3 This was taken with the same 18-200mm lens from the same spot as Bo 1 and 2. Bo 1 was taken at 18mm, Bo 2 was probably taken around 50mm, and this one was taken at 200mm. |
Sam's Cafe at Tiburon Sam probably already has a picture of this, but I can never resist. |
