We are in love with Steven Maturin and Jack Aubrey, and their lifelong friendship created by Patrick O’Brian. There are 20 novels (and a fragment, in process at his death). You can get the the whole ouevre from amazon.
Or you might enjoy Master and Commander, the feature film by Peter Weir, starring Russel Crowe. A wondeful film, though mainly lacking the intimate and political subtlety of the O’Brian novels.
