City Hall Wedding

San Francisco Supervisor Chris Daly married us in San Francisco City Hall on February 12, 2004. We were one of the first 100 same-sex couples in the United States to get legally married.

We Got Legally Married Today!

Wedding

We made history today. This afternoon, Bo and I got legally married in the San Francisco City Hall. County Supervisor Chris Daly officiated our ceremony. John Polito 2 was our witness. John and his partner, John also got a wedding license and are hoping to marry today or tomorrow. I’ll put up pictures and a scan of our marriage license tomorrow.

Sorry we couldn’t invite everybody—we found out at noon that we could get married and rushed down to San Francisco. There were many happy gay and lesbian couples getting married in the City Hall rotunda. We waited a couple hours to get our license and about 20 minutes for our turn to get married. Read about it in the New York Times, SF Chronicle and CNN. The New York Times says at least 50 couples and CNN says a dozen. We took a number when we got there (106). At that time, they were serving number 80, and almost everyone there was gay or lesbian. By the time we got married, they were serving number 150. I’d say at least 100 same sex couples got marriage licenses today.
